MTCC Completes Base Works on Ameenee Magu, Asphalt Paving to Begin This Week

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed key preparatory roadworks on Segment 1 of the ongoing Ameenee Magu project, with asphalt paving scheduled to begin this week.

MTCC said Aggregate Base Course (ABC) laying and the application of MC-30 prime coat were completed on Segment 1 last week. With these works finished, the project is now moving into the asphalt paving stage.

The ABC layer provides structural support for the road surface, while the MC-30 prime coat is applied to prepare the base and improve bonding with the asphalt layer.

The works form part of ongoing infrastructure improvements along Ameenee Magu, an important road corridor in Malé that serves residential, commercial and government areas. Improvements to the road are expected to contribute to better road conditions and smoother movement for motorists and other road users.

The commencement of asphalt paving marks a significant step forward in the construction process, as the project progresses from foundational works toward the installation of the final road surface.

MTCC has continued to undertake major road and infrastructure projects across the Maldives as part of its efforts to improve transport infrastructure and strengthen connectivity between communities.
