More than 17,000 athletes and officials are expected at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, and with participation exceeding initial expectations, organisers have had to get creative with accommodation.  One of the solutions? A cruise ship docked in the host area will provide additional accommodation for athletes and officials during the Games.  The Asian Games kick off on September 19, with 81 Maldivians among those heading to compete across seven sports.  So yes, for some athletes, their Asian Games experience will come with a rather unusual hotel room: a cruise ship
