President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu says all households will pay no more than MVR 400 for electricity during the upcoming Ramadan.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced a cap on electricity bills for the coming Ramadan. He revealed the decision last night at the “Dhivehenge Raajje” event marking his government’s second anniversary.
Under the plan, every household billed at the domestic rate will pay a maximum of MVR 400. The government will discount the remaining amount. Muizzu said the measure aims to ease costs for families during the holy month.
The President also confirmed that the government will distribute Ramadan gifts again this year. Each household will receive a case of canned fish.
Last Ramadan, the government distributed 111,231 cases of canned fish and provided similar electricity bill discounts.
