Drug Seizures Surge Under Muizzu

Drug seizures climbed steeply in 2024–2025, reaching levels close to the previous five-year total.

From 2019–2023, Maldives seized 1,255.97 kg of drugs. In 2024–2025, seizures hit 852.45 kg, or 67.9% of that total. The rise is steep and steady.

Muizzu’s first two years saw a 343.29 kg increase compared to Solih’s first two years. Officers carried out more raids. They disrupted more supply lines. They seized larger shipments.

Arrests also increased. Stop-and-question actions climbed. The numbers show heavier enforcement and more aggressive policing. The pressure on traffickers intensified, and the scale of seizures reflects that shift.
