The Rasmale’ Land Reclamation Project has reclaimed 116 hectares out of the planned 137.5 hectares at Site A, marking 84.36% completion as works continue on schedule.
Maldives Airports Company Limited commenced reclamation at Rasmale’ Site A on 1 December 2025. The project is progressing steadily under the planned timeline.
Belgium-based dredging firm Jan De Nul is carrying out the works using the Cristóbal Colón, one of the world’s largest Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers. The vessel has a hopper capacity of 46,000 cubic metres.
The deployment of the Cristóbal Colón underscores the scale and technical capacity behind the project as land formation advances toward completion.
