Pakistan has welcomed President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed to Islamabad for a three-day state visit from October 20 to 22.
The visit is at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and marks the first high-level bilateral engagement between the two countries in over a decade.
President Muizzu is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sharif and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to discuss strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, education, health, tourism, defence and maritime security.
A Maldives-Pakistan Business Forum will also be held to explore new trade and investment opportunities, with several agreements expected to be signed.
The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Pakistan, established in 1966.
