MVR 7M for Environment Projects

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced an annual MVR 7 million allocation from the Green Fund for environmental protection.

The announcement was made in his message marking World Environment Day, where he urged renewed efforts to protect the environment for future generations.

The President said lack of funding remains one of the biggest challenges in addressing climate change, especially for small island states like the Maldives.

The annual allocation will support protected area management, conservation work, environmental research, awareness programmes and projects by civil society groups and schools.

Officials said the funding will be provided in addition to the existing environment sector budget.
