Maldives Ports Limited has reported that 37,779 containers of cargo were cleared during the first week of June.
According to MPL statistics, the total included 35,456 container cargo shipments and 2,323 general cargo shipments.
Last week alone, MPL cleared 1,101 container cargo shipments and 291 general cargo shipments.
Eggs were the most cleared item during the week, with 15,235 packages released from the port. This was followed by 11,058 packages of onions. MPL also cleared large quantities of fruits, vegetables and other food items.
Three container vessels arrived in the Maldives during the week. MPL also handled cargo from three general cargo vessels, while three vessels departed from the port.
