The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced that the ice plant established in Kanduoiygiri, located near Malé, has officially begun selling ice to fishermen today.
This initiative is expected to resolve the challenges faced by fishers in the region regarding ice availability, providing significant convenience to their operations.
According to MIFCO, the facility in Kanduoiygiri is equipped with an ice plant capable of producing 25 metric tons of ice daily.
Furthermore, MIFCO has expanded its operations at the site, having inaugurated a dried fish factory earlier this month. This facility is designed to manage the entire processing chain, including receiving fresh fish, cleaning, cooking, smoking, and packaging.
MIFCO further stated that its strategic goal is to continue expanding operations in Kanduoiygiri. The company intends to further enhance the site's capacity and introduce additional resources in the future.
