Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) showcased the engineers behind Velana International Airport (VIA) at a National Engineers’ Day Children’s Evening on Sunday.
The event was held at Hulhumalé Central Park from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
It aimed to introduce children to engineering. It also encouraged interest in engineering and technical careers.
MACL showcased seven key areas involved in airport operations:
- -Water and Sewerage Services
-Mechanical Services
-Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
-Fuel
-Information Technology
-Aeronautical and Airfield Ground Lighting
-Electrical Services
Interactive displays and demonstrations showed children how each team works.
They also learned how different technical teams work together to keep VIA running safely and efficiently.
MACL engineers and technical staff spoke with children and visitors. They shared their experiences and explained career opportunities in aviation, engineering and technology.
MACL relies on engineers and technical specialists to keep airport operations running around the clock.
The company said the event aimed to inspire more young people to explore engineering and technology.
