SAARC Secretary-General Md. Golam Sarwar has made a farewell visit to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed appreciation for Sarwar’s dedicated service and support during his tenure, while highlighting SAARC’s important role in addressing regional and international issues.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening SAARC and commended Sarwar for his leadership of the regional organisation.
Sarwar, in turn, expressed gratitude for the Maldives’ continued cooperation and support. He highlighted the Maldives’ significance as one of SAARC’s founding members and thanked President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for his efforts towards revitalising the organisation.
The two sides also discussed key SAARC initiatives and explored ways to further strengthen regional integration, cooperation and collective progress among member states.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu conveyed his best wishes to Sarwar for his future endeavours and expressed his commitment to continued cooperation among SAARC member states.
The Maldives is a founding member of SAARC, which was established on 8 December 1985 with the signing of the SAARC Charter in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
