The Maldives Police Service has introduced SmartDraw software to improve the accuracy and efficiency of road accident investigations.
Introduced by the Traffic Investigation Function under the Traffic Police and Road Management Department, the software allows officers to create detailed diagrams of accident scenes using road layouts, vehicle positions, traffic signs and traffic lights.
Investigators can also incorporate Google Maps and satellite imagery to produce clearer representations of accident locations.
Police say the software will help improve evidence documentation, strengthen investigation reports and make investigative procedures more efficient.
The introduction is part of efforts to modernise police services and improve the quality of road accident investigations across the Maldives.
