MTCC begins Ameenee Magu road repairs

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced preliminary works for the road repair project covering Ameenee Magu, Izzudheen Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé.

MTCC said its teams carried out setting-out works on Ameenee Magu on the first day of the project and met with relevant stakeholders ahead of the commencement of repair works to coordinate implementation and minimise disruptions.

The project aims to rehabilitate three of the capital’s busiest roads, which experience heavy daily traffic and have shown signs of wear due to continuous use. The repairs are expected to improve road conditions, enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians, and extend the lifespan of the road network.

While MTCC has not announced a completion timeline, the contractor said preliminary activities are now underway before full-scale repair works begin.

The latest project follows MTCC’s continued road infrastructure programme in the Greater Malé Region. The company has been undertaking several road development and rehabilitation projects in the capital, including the ongoing Boduthakurufaanu Magu improvement works, as part of broader efforts to upgrade urban transport infrastructure and improve mobility across Malé.
