First Lady Urges Eligible People to Donate Blood

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has called on eligible individuals to donate blood, describing it as an opportunity to serve humanity and help save lives.

Speaking at the World Blood Donor Day reception held at the Islamic Centre on Saturday evening, the First Lady praised voluntary blood donors for their selfless contributions to society.

She said the annual observance recognises those who donate blood to help others and encourages values such as kindness, compassion and sacrifice. She also urged people who may be hesitant about donating blood to take part in the humanitarian effort.

The ceremony honoured long-serving blood donors, first-time 18-year-old donors, organisations that hosted the most blood donation camps and individuals who made the highest number of donations through such camps.

The First Lady also presented Gold Awards and Lifetime Contribution Awards to donors in recognition of their longstanding commitment to voluntary blood donation.

Health professionals and blood donors attended the event. World Blood Donor Day is observed annually on June 14.
