Students across Maldives schools have started their term break after completing the first academic term, with the second term set to begin on August 2. More than 81,000 students are enrolled in government schools this academic year.
Following the conclusion of the first academic term and the distribution of report cards, students across all schools in the Maldives have officially commenced their term break today.
According to the academic calendar established by the Ministry of Education, the second term is scheduled to begin on the 2nd of next month, providing students with a 12-day holiday.
Looking ahead, the year-end holidays for the current academic year will span from December 18 to January 12, 2027. The new academic year, 2027, is slated to officially commence on January 17, 2027.
Current statistics indicate that over 81,000 students are enrolled in 217 government schools. The Ministry of Education has informed that more than 9,950 teachers are actively engaged in providing instruction to these students.
Furthermore, there are over 13,000 students enrolled in private schools from LKG to Grade 12, with more than 9,000 of these students attending institutions in the Greater Male’ area. Notably, during this academic year, 1,530 students transferred from atoll-based schools to schools in Male’, while 836 students relocated from Male’ to schools in Hulhumale’.
