MTCC says the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project (Phase 1) has reached another milestone, with sub-base and Aggregate Base Course works fully completed. Asphalt paving on the remaining section is set to finish on July 15, while road markings, parking, sidewalk, and cable trench works continue.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced another major milestone in the Malé North Side Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project (Phase 1), with sub-base works and the Aggregate Base Course (ABC) now 100 percent complete.
According to MTCC, asphalt paving on the remaining section of the road is scheduled to be fully completed on 15 July 2026, marking another significant step towards the completion of the project.
MTCC also said road marking works on Segments 4 and 5 have been completed, while construction of the parking zone is progressing steadily. Sidewalk paving and cable trench works on Segments 2 and 3 are also underway.
The Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project forms part of broader efforts to upgrade road infrastructure in the Greater Malé area, where rising traffic congestion has increased the need for improved road capacity and pedestrian facilities. Once completed, the project is expected to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and parking along one of the capital’s busiest roads.
