Dr. Mohamed Afeef Hussain has been appointed Minister of State for Climate Change, Environment and Energy, following his removal as Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation.
Afeef, who took over as Fenaka MD on April 27, has been transferred to a senior government position, according to the Privatization and Corporatization Board.
He is the third person to be removed as head of Fenaka under the current administration, following Muaz Mohamed Rasheed and Mohamed Najah.
Meanwhile, the government has announced the dissolution of Fenaka Corporation, with its electricity, water and sewerage services to be transferred to STELCO.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the decision was made to ensure uninterrupted services, citing Auditor General’s reports on major cases and alleged scandals involving Fenaka under the previous administration.
