The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade will begin inspecting shops across the Maldives over complaints about goods being sold without clearly displayed prices.
The ministry said the Consumer Protection Act requires prices to be clearly shown on products or on shelves in a way that allows customers to identify the correct price.
Inspections will be carried out under Article 66 of the Act, with legal action to be taken against businesses found violating the rules.
The ministry has urged all traders to comply with the requirements and ensure customers can see prices before making a purchase.
