Housing Applicants Get More Time to Fix Applications

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development has extended the deadline for applicants to submit corrections and supporting documents related to the ongoing verification of land and flat applications submitted under the government’s “Boahiyaavahikan Enmenah” policy.

The Ministry said the extension applies to applicants who have identified inaccuracies or issues in the information stated in notices issued regarding the verification of applications for the Greater Malé Region.

Previously, applicants were given seven days to provide the required information and documentation. The Ministry has now extended the response period to 21 days, citing the need to give applicants additional time and convenience to address the identified issues.

Applicants who fail to respond within the 21-day period will have their applications classified as ineligible or incomplete, the Ministry said.

The verification exercise is currently being carried out for applications submitted under the government’s various housing programmes, as authorities work to determine eligibility for land and flats in the Greater Malé Region.

To assist applicants and provide information about the “Boahiyaavahikan Enmenah” programmes, the Ministry has also established a help desk and dedicated call centre.

The call centre can be reached at 4004-900, while both the call centre and help desk will operate from 9:00am to 3:00pm on working days.

The Ministry said a total of 58,505 applications have been submitted under the different housing programmes. Of these, 35,930 applications are for flats, while 22,575 are for land.

The extension is expected to give applicants additional time to review the information provided in their applications and submit any documents required to resolve discrepancies identified during the verification process.
