State Pharma Discusses Pharmacy Training and Employment Opportunities with Villa College

State Pharma has held discussions with Villa College on strengthening pharmacy education and creating greater career opportunities for Maldivian youth in the pharmaceutical sector.

The meeting focused on expanding opportunities for students to pursue pharmacy-related studies, developing a skilled local workforce and exploring potential employment pathways for graduates within State Pharma.

Discussions also covered the possibility of increasing student enrolment in pharmacy programmes and strengthening cooperation between the academic institution and the pharmaceutical sector to ensure graduates are equipped with skills relevant to the needs of the industry.

State Pharma also highlighted the importance of providing refresher and skills-development courses for individuals already working in the pharmaceutical field. Both sides agreed to explore the implementation of such training programmes through Villa College.

The latest discussions form part of State Pharma’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with local educational institutions. The company has previously held similar discussions with the Maldives National University (MNU) on developing pharmacy-related training and strengthening the local pharmaceutical workforce.

State Pharma said partnerships with higher education institutions are important in creating opportunities for Maldivian youth while developing the skilled professionals needed to support the country’s healthcare system.

State Pharma, which is responsible for supplying medicines and healthcare essentials across the Maldives, has also emphasised the importance of building a reliable and sustainable pharmaceutical workforce alongside ensuring the uninterrupted supply of medicines nationwide.

The company said it will continue working with academic institutions to create opportunities for professional development, training and employment for Maldivians seeking careers in the pharmaceutical sector.
