The Maldives Police Service has launched a Traffic Enhancement Plan aimed at improving road safety and easing congestion in Malé and the bridge highway. Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed said more officers will be deployed to high-traffic areas as part of the initiative.

The plan was unveiled during a meeting with officers from the Traffic and Road Management Department held at Iskandharu Koshi 1 on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry and senior officers also attended.
The plan sets out operational procedures for officers deployed across Malé and the Sinamalé Bridge highway.
During the meeting, Commissioner Ahmed stressed the need to strengthen traffic policing, announcing an increase in the number of officers assigned to traffic duties. He instructed officers to maintain a stronger presence in busy areas to reduce congestion and public inconvenience.
The Traffic and Road Management Department said police presence will be expanded beyond the current monitoring zones, with efforts underway to deploy more officers across the capital.
