MVR 13.4M Spent Clearing Illegal Waste at Aman Towers

Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has revealed that over MVR 13.4 million has been spent to date on removing waste illegally disposed of in the common areas of the Aman Towers, which are under the corporation's management.

According to statistics released by FDC, a total of 5,040 tonnes of waste were cleared from common areas between October 2025 and June 2026. This includes 3,178 tonnes removed from October 2025 to March 2026, and 1,862 tonnes cleared between May 2026 and June 2026. The corporation noted that one tonne of waste is equivalent to approximately 133 waste bags.

The detailed breakdown of the expenditure for waste removal is as follows:

October 2025 to March 2026: MVR 8.45 million

April 2026: MVR 75,100 (Seventy-five thousand one hundred)

May 2026 to June 2026: MVR 4.95 million

During this period, a total of MVR 13,481,557.15 (Thirteen million four hundred eighty-one thousand five hundred fifty-seven Rufiyaa and fifteen Laari) was spent on waste management efforts.

FDC highlighted that the primary reason for such high expenditure is the disposal of various types of waste in common areas, in violation of established guidelines. This irresponsible disposal has significantly increased the financial burden on both the state budget and the corporation to maintain cleanliness in these areas.

Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation has appealed to the public to be more responsible in waste disposal to reduce unnecessary expenditures caused by negligence and to ensure a pleasant living environment for all residents.
