President Commissions Australia-Donated Coast Guard Vessel

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Monday commissioned CGS Imaduddin, a patrol vessel donated by the Australian government to strengthen the Maldives' maritime security.

At a ceremony held at the Hulhumalé International Terminal, President Muizzu formally accepted the vessel on behalf of the Maldives before commissioning it into service with the MNDF Coast Guard and presenting the national flag and commissioning warrant to its commanding officer.

Donated under Australia's Defence Cooperation Programme, the vessel was built by Austal Limited in Perth and is designed for maritime patrols, search and rescue missions, and other security operations.

The government said the addition of CGS Imaduddin will enhance the MNDF Coast Guard's operational capabilities and strengthen the Maldives' ability to safeguard its maritime territory.
