Bangladesh Foreign Minister pays courtesy call on President Muizzu

Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Dr Khalilur Rahman, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Friday evening at the President’s Office during his visit to the Maldives for the country’s 61st Independence Day celebrations.

President Muizzu welcomed Dr Rahman and expressed his appreciation for the Bangladeshi minister’s participation as the Special Guest of the Government at the Independence Day celebrations.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, with a particular focus on enhancing multilateral cooperation, expanding educational opportunities, and promoting greater people-to-people exchanges.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming the longstanding friendship and close bilateral ties between the Maldives and Bangladesh. They also reiterated their commitment to deepening cooperation across areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both countries.

The Maldives and Bangladesh have maintained warm diplomatic relations for decades, cooperating in areas including labour, education, trade, and regional affairs. Bangladesh is home to one of the largest expatriate communities in the Maldives, and the two countries continue to work closely to strengthen cooperation through regular high-level engagements and bilateral initiatives.
