STO Healthcare introduces pocket-sized ultrasound scan models

STO has introduced GE Healthcare’s latest portable ultrasound models, the 'Vscan' series, to the Maldives.

GE Healthcare is a globally renowned brand in ultrasound technology. The devices were officially launched at a ceremony held on Wednesday night at Hotel Jen by STO’s CEO and Managing Director, Shimad Ibrahim, and GE Healthcare’s Sales Head for South Asia, Jagdish Babu.

These newly introduced models are expected to play a pivotal role in decentralizing diagnostic services, moving scanning capabilities from traditional clinic consultation rooms directly to the patient’s side. STO’s Healthcare team believes this presents a significant opportunity to expand such services across the small islands of the Maldivian archipelago.

These devices can be integrated with Apple and Android smartphones as well as laptops, allowing scanned images to be shared in compliance with DICOM standards.

GE Healthcare is a highly preferred brand among radiologists. STO serves as the authorized distributor for this brand, which is already extensively utilized within the Maldivian healthcare system. To ensure robust and sustainable after-sales service, STO’s Biomedical team has trained and deployed specialized engineers for each GE Healthcare modality. While the team includes certified engineers for MRI, CT, mammography, and ultrasound, STO also highlighted the inclusion of female Maldivian engineers within this specialized workforce.
