Government Shuts Down 107 Illegal Businesses in Ongoing Enforcement Drive

The government has shut down 107 businesses operating illegally as part of an ongoing nationwide enforcement campaign aimed at strengthening regulatory compliance and ensuring a fair business environment.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, inspections conducted between November 2025 and July 2026 resulted in significant action against businesses found to be operating in violation of the law.

The Ministry said it received 447 complaints related to illegal business activities during the period. In response, authorities inspected 274 business premises across the country.

Following these inspections, 107 businesses were ordered to cease operations for failing to comply with applicable regulations. The Ministry noted that some of the businesses have since been permitted to resume operations after rectifying the identified violations and meeting legal requirements.

The Ministry said the enforcement drive is intended to strengthen compliance with business regulations, protect legitimate businesses, and ensure equal opportunities for all businesses operating within the country’s legal framework.

It also reaffirmed that inspections will continue and that legal action will be taken against businesses found to be operating in violation of the law.

The crackdown is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve oversight of the business sector and strengthen enforcement of commercial regulations. Authorities have been increasing inspections in response to complaints from the public and businesses, while encouraging individuals to report suspected illegal business activities to help ensure a fair and transparent business environment.
