President Muizzu Inspects Progress of New Arabiyya School

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inspected the progress of construction of the new government-funded building of Al-Madhrasatul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya (Arabiyya School) in Malé.

The construction project was awarded to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development on 12 November 2024.

Upon arrival at the construction site, President Muizzu was received by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ismail Shafeeu and RCC Managing Director Ibrahim Rasheed.

During the visit, the President met with students of Arabiyya School as well as several higher education students. The students shared their views and aspirations with the President, who assured them of the Government’s support in addressing their concerns.

President Muizzu also emphasised the high priority accorded by his Administration to advancing education and creating better learning opportunities for students.

The new eight-storey school building is scheduled for completion by 31 December 2026, with academic activities expected to commence at the new facility in 2027.

The building will feature modern classrooms, advanced educational resources and improved amenities designed to provide students with a modern learning environment.

The development of the new facility on a prime plot of land in Malé is part of the Government’s efforts to revitalise Arabiyya School and establish it as a leading centre for Arabic-medium education.

The project also fulfils a key presidential pledge to develop a modern facility for the school. The Administration has said it remains committed to ensuring the project is completed on schedule and to a high standard, allowing students to move into the new premises in 2027.
